I am a self-taught artis tand I love to work with copper. It is a warm, earthy metal with great versatility that can be easily formed, etched and colored with heat to be transformed into beautiful wall art that will last forever.
My early careers were working in film processing at a professional photo finishing lab and operating offset printing presses. While working in these fields for several years I never felt fulfilled, and I was not finding my full expression or potential. After leaving my last job I decided I needed to do something completely different. I had always been a creative person working on artistic projects at home, so I thought why not use that talent to create a product that I could sell. Out of that inspiration came a business creating a beautiful and wonderfully sounding copper wind chime and after 32 years I am still selling it today.
Over the years I wanted to be more expansive with my artistic creations, so I began working on wall sculptures applying techniques and processes I had learned working with copper. I am particularly attracted to etching, using acid to create relief designs on the copper surface. I like making pieces that have an aged look, sometimes using old symbols and designs. In other pieces Iuse alcohol inks to create vibrant colors.Whatever the piece becomes, it is always something unique and original.
